Who Said Three Is A Crowd? | Trio Of The Best L'Oreal Foundations

As many of you may know foundation is defiantly a keen interest of mine and I seem to be forever looking for the next best base. To me, you can never have too many foundations in your stash, after all a lot of them claim to do different things and combat varying problem areas.

I am a firm believer in choosing different foundations depending on what kind of complexion you want to achieve or what problem you want to target (anti-ageing,blemishes etc)

I know most people would finish one bottle before moving on to the next but my theory is that life is too short to limit myself to one,two or even ten foundations. So with that in mind I thought I would share three of my favourite drugstore foundations with you and it is just a happy coincidence they are all from Loreal.

Myself and Loreal Foundations have always got on famously and there are only 3 or 4 in their entire back catalogue that I would use a Obliviate charm on and forget all knowledge of their existence.(High-five to any other Harry Potter geeks)

I'm going to give you the low down on each one...so here goes!

Before we get into specifics I have to say that as a rule I love Loreal foundation packaging, nine times out of ten they are in glass bottles and look a lot more expensive than they actually are. Their prices are also reasonable for the quality that you are getting, It's clear that Loreal are not slacking when it comes to the ingredients they use within their makeup.

Like most traditional drugstore foundations they tend to come equipped with pumps which believe me is something in the foundation world not to be taken for granted!

So let's talk my ultimate favourite first....The Lumi Magique Foundation.

Packaging wise I love this foundation, it has a rose gold exterior which basically means I am sold. Contrary to my love of it the pump is very messy which is the only downside as it tends to suffer leakage, apart from that....it is packaging goals!

This foundation for me is Gisele Bundchen's skin in a bottle meaning it has a gorgeous radiant finish to it and even though it highlight's your features, makes you look tons healthier & more awake it doesn't accentuate any fine lines, blemishes or any other skin complaints you may have. The coverage is great and it doesn't feel heavy or cakey on the skin, it is really long wearing and can withstand a good 11 + hours on a busy day, it is also really easy to apply.

This liquid makeup makes you look lit from within and almost gives the skin a soft focus finish, there is something so ethereal about this base and it is one of the best foundations I have ever tried! I also believe it will be great for a variety of skin tones as I have combination skin and it deals with it beautifully.

Th shade selection is just OK and sadly nothing to write home about, it's not the worst but could defiantly be built upon.

My next weapon of choice is the Nutri-lift Gold, this foundation is so hydrating, my skin just looks like it has been on the most epic night out and the only drinks consumed were good old bottle's of H2O with a side order of sleep.

It is super moisturising and almost feels like a skincare product as it is packed with plumping, hydrating and firming ingredients. I think long term this makeup can do wonders for your complexion / skin when used on an everyday basis and I saw a difference after first use. My eye area looked plumper and a lot more hydrated.

Although this foundation is formulated and ideal for mature skin, I am just bout to hit 'dirty 30' so anything preventative is a must for me for slowing down that ticking clock!

It is a demi-matte finish which means it looks very natural an almost undetectable, you just look like you have skin everyone envies. It covers well and gives you a more even and perfected finish.

Because this is an Anti Ageing Serum Foundation, you know it is very caring on the skin and it is not going to gather in any fine lines. It smooths over lines and wrinkles filling them in, in a really natural way. It also contains six active ingredients that all work together to give you a more age defying complexion.

It applies beautifully and in terms of staying power and packaging it is as the above foundation and say even though it has a beautiful design the pump leaks horribly.

I saved my least favourite for last, even though I really like this base it is incomparrible to the two above, but it has a very interesting idea behind it.  I have heard different things about this foundation and how it should be used. I have herd that it is merely a contour base which means apply other foundation then use this under your contour product? if this is the case I find that a complete waste of time and money, who wants to add yet another layer to a full face of makeup when generally normal foundations deal with contour products perfectly fine? However if true this would explain why it only comes in a shocking three shades!

Because it is sold in the foundation isle and clearly has foundation on the bottle I use it as such and I have to say I really like it. It blends beautifully and provides a decent amount of coverage. I apply it with a damp Beauty Blender and it gives a very natural finish, I do however always feel the need to set this foundation as it can feel a little tacky (so ideal for dryer skin types) but once set it feels gorgeous.

It's has good lasting power, and stays true to is colour throughout the day meaning it does not oxidise at all on me however I have herd that some people have struggled in this area.

In terms of the contouring element I do not find it to assist or make my products last any longer than any other foundation, but I do like the coverage and complexion it gives me when just used as a traditional foundation.

I hope you all enjoyed and found this round-up helpful, please comment with any experiences / favourites of your own.

Much Love

  1. It's funny you've posted about L'Oreal foundations because I'm really loving the L'Oreal Infallible foundation at the moment (but I have to mix it with white foundation because the palest shade is still too dark for me haha). Yours sound beautiful, I'll have to have a closer look next time I'm in Boots x
