Lancome Teint Idole Ultra Cushion Foundation

Recently I have been trying out a new foundation,  Lancome very kindly sent me a couple of their current launches to try and amongst them was the Lancome Teint Idole Ultra Cushion Foundation.

This foundation is a part of the same family as the original and well loved Teint Idole Ultra 24H Foundation but this time it comes with a very unique way of application.

But before we get into that let's talk aesthetics, the packaging of this foundation is ultra chic and premium, it's a gorgeous, chunky golden compact with an understated Lancome logo on the top. It also boasts a great sized mirror which is perfect for using when out and about.

The foundation is a liquid formula poured into the cushion making this kind of cushion foundation very unique.  In my experience most cushion products tend to be of a cream formula, because this is a fluid it maintains it's light and airy texture and feels weightless when applied.

It comes with a puff applicator,  this way of application means you get very full coverage because the makeup is concentrated and patted into where you need it. Even though I find this method of application more time consuming it really gives a more flawless finish.

Once blended out you can see that the complexion looks very fresh and luminous, I would definitely say that this foundation has a velvet-luminous finish that makes the skin look replenished and more youthful.

I found that the foundation also worked well by using a buffing brush although it is less flawless.  I find it to be a quicker method of application, it dries faster and in my opinion looks a little less air brushed so in effect a little more natural, but if you look at both images there is little difference between the two.

The rest of my makeup glided on top of this foundation seamlessly and the result was very fresh and healthy. The base didn't feel heavy or cakey so it was a pleasure to apply and wear, it also photographed beautifully. It lasted around 12-15 hours before looking a little less flawless and mellowed into a very skin-like appearance so more demi-matte as the day went on.

If you are wondering what blusher and lipstick I am wearing in the image above, both are also by Lancome.

Another unique benefit about this foundation is that the compacts are refillable, you do not have to go to the expense of replacing the whole unit when finished, you can simply just replace the foundation capsule at a much lesser cost. Not only does this save money but it also makes it easy to switch your favourite foundation up from shade to shade from season to season!
